Eligibility
The
criteria for eligibility were modified this year due to an affidavit submitted
in the Supreme Court. Now, candidates who exhausted their number of attempts in

extra chance to appear in the exams.

Nationality: A person who desires to appear in the
exam should be a citizen of India.

Age limit: The minimum age for appearing in the exam
is 21 and the maximum is 32.

3 years
for defence faculty who got disabled in operations during the hostility with
any other nation and are released as a consequence.
●
5 years
for commissioned officers, SSCOs, ECOs and other commissioned officers who
served in the military for at least 5 years, as of 01 August 2021 and have been
released.
●
10 years
for persons with disabilities including
a.
Deaf or
hearing difficulties
b.
Blind or
poor vision
c.
Cerebral
palsy, cured leprosy, dwarfism, acid attack survivor, muscular dystrophy
d.
Intellectual
disability, autism, any mental illness
e.
Multiple disabilities
from clauses mentioned above

Education: People who are graduates and those who
are in the final years of graduation can apply by providing proof of passing.
●
The total number of attempts: Candidates can attempt the exam 6 times.
In the case of OBC 9 attempts are allowed and SC/ST and PwD can appear in the
exam till the age limit.

The IAS
prelims exams are conducted in two phases: General Studies I and General
Studies II/CSAT. These test a candidate's knowledge of current affairs and
